Expert: Russians should earn up to 60,000 rbl/yr on personal data

MOSCOW, Jul 15 (PRIME) -- Russians should earn from 15,000 to 60,000 rubles per year on their personal data, Internet Initiatives Development Fund Director Kirill Varlamov told PRIME on Monday.

“We say that people should get the right and the opportunity to decide how their data can be used for these or those purposes. We propose a new version of the law that says that every operator of such data must have a digital interface where a person can see all data and permit or ban their exploitation,” Varlamov said.

“We find it fair if people are able to get money for provision of the data: an approximate amount can range from 15,000 to 60,000 rubles per year per person.”

The country is studying three bills regulating the use of personal data. In January, the fund offered its concept of personal data regulation, whose key point was to equip people with access to their data.
